PLANTS

PLANTS come in many sizes and forms.  They are the living foundation of the forest.  For many, they knit up the ravell'd sleave of care, sore labour's bath, balm of hurt minds, great nature's second course, chief nourisher in life's feast.  The plants of Dolphin Place are found in their native state within 70 miles.

For starters, plants can be basically grouped as follows: those without liquid transport tissue (moss, etc); needing water to propagate (ferns, etc); plants that propagate without water (having seeds), which can be split into two major groups: gymnosperms (without flowers, pine trees, etc); angiosperms (flower seed production), which can be further split into two major groups:  monocots (grasses, flowers with 3 petals, etc); and dicots (maple tree, nettle, flowers with 4-5 petals).
