Red-flowering currant (Ribes sanguineum) is a beautiful, fast-growing native shrub from western North America, known for its early, showy, dangling clusters of deep pink to red flowers that attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies in late winter/early spring, followed by edible, blue-black berries that birds love. This deciduous shrub is great for gardens, tolerates shade, and offers fragrant leaves and pretty fall color.
