Goat's beard (Aruncus dioicus) is a large, shrub-like perennial known for its showy, feathery plumes of creamy-white flowers in late spring/early summer, resembling giant astilbes, with ferny foliage, thriving in moist, shady spots and popular in woodland gardens as a backdrop plant. It's a native of the northern hemisphere, deer-resistant, and has male and female flowers on separate plants, with males being showier.
