Dolphin Place Shady Pond Ecologies
Shady ponds of standing water in our forests do not support many specific species. One that is significant is our Skunk Cabbage, which has leaves up to 3 feet long and wide enough to capture the weak filtered light. Some salamander species congregate and breed in these cooler waters. The water may become stagnent and filled wilth brown tannin dedcaying plant materials.
